Right now it is "slow time," and while I have been keeping up here and there with studio sessions, my goals for this time were to hammer out some of the details on the business-end of this whole photography thing. With spring quickly approaching (maybe not as quickly here in Michigan's upper peninsula as in other areas, but still - it will be here by May . . . ) my to-do list is not quite as crossed-off as I would like it to be. That means I get to spend some time looking back on last year's sessions and getting them blogged. When it means looking at sessions like this, I don't mind that chore one bit.
The Kenneally family's session was one of my very favorites of the fall season. I have to admit that I did a little internal happy dance when their children got out of their car - their mom has an eye for putting outfits together that I just don't have, and everyone was absolutely put together and on point. Their kids are also adorable, and super-fun, and super-sweet, and basically everything a photographer could ask for in a client.
Their sessions was *fun*, and that is one of my biggest passions - I don't want these sessions to be a chore. When your kids look back at these photos 20 years from now (because that is part of why we do this, isn't it? To give something for future generations to remember us by?) I don't want them to say, "Ugh, I remember that - taking pictures is so boring!!" Instead I want it to be an adventure - let them laugh, let them run around, let them be who they are. We had great fun pretending to feet piles of grass to dinosaurs this day. And then, when your kids look at these photos, they will say, "Remember what a fun day that was?" And the memories are happy ones. And every time you see these hanging on your walls (I hope you are hanging these on your walls!!) you will remember that fun.
Some of my favorites from this Escanaba family portrait session <3
Thank you so much, Kenneally family, for the opportunity to meet you and capture your adorable little family!
