Photographing a wedding for a family member is almost more intimidating than photographing for a stranger - you know all the guests, you know that they know *you*, and you want to do an extra-good job for your loved ones. So I was a little nervous to photograph Jessica and Andrew's big day, I will admit. Once I saw their venue though, I was absolutely ecstatic, and knew that if I would have attended their wedding as a guest I would have been absolutely envious of their photographer.
I had never been to Madison Wisconsin before, and it was an amazing backdrop for a wedding. The ceremony was held at the Masonic building, which is full of beautiful architecture and historical elements. Jessica had one of the most gorgeous getting-ready rooms that I've ever seen. And because they decided to meet before the ceremony for a first look, we were able to take advantage of the capital being just blocks away and took a walk for group photos between the ceremony and reception.
All of this would have been great enough, but Jessica and Andrew's relationship is so inspiring, it took the day to a whole other level. You could see the genuine joy in Andrew throughout the day, and as he was waiting to see Jessica for the first time he cheered at passersby, yelling, "I'M GETTING MARRIED!!" Jessica is one of the most beautiful people I've ever had the privilege to know, both inside and out. Their bridal party was supportive, amazingly high-energy, sweet as can be, and just so much fun. And the family - well, if any of you know the Konyn clan you now that they made for quite the party!
I couldn't have been happier to photograph Jessica and Andrew's Madison wedding, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for them.
