This session is so near and dear to my heart, because that soon-to-be daddy there is my baby brother. I only get to see him and his wife a few times a year, and we only had one evening to get these maternity photos. I had been at a wedding all day the day before in Escanaba, and then that morning popped my kids in their pj's into the minivan at 6am. We pulled into the venue in Utica for Tom & Morgan's baby shower at 1:30, with just enough time to change the kids into their nice clothes and say hi to everyone. After the baby shower, some real rain showers decided to let loose, but we headed to our first location in the hopes that it would let up long enough for pictures.
While we photographed, my kids played in the rain as my mom and grandmother watched them from the comfort of their vehicle. They had such a good time splashing around, and it was great for them to burn off some energy after riding in a car all day and then having to sit through a baby shower. Once it started raining in earnest, we drove to another location to test our luck there.
We ended up at a beautiful park in Utica with a pond, gazebo, and beautiful landscaping. I love exploring new areas, but I haven't lived downstate in many years now and was thankful that my brother knew of this park we could go to. I started them out in the gazebo to protect them from the rain, and while I was outside of it photographing, I realized that the rain had completely let up. I pulled them out in front of the water and was able to capture some of my favorite maternity photos.
My brother has always been, and hopefully will always be, a kid at heart. He is friendly and outgoing in a way that just amazes me, as his introverted sister. Morgan is a sweetheart, laid back most of the time but a fierce mama-bear when the need arises. Their little one is going to be raised by two amazing people, and is going to be shown so much love and happiness. I absolutely cannot wait to meet her.
